Class 2: Historical Perspectives on Gender
Be able to understand the historical context of gender identity.
Discuss the historical perspective of gender identity, from ancient times to the present day.
Discuss how the definition of gender has changed over time and how it has been influenced by
different cultures and societies.
Show examples of how gender identity has been portrayed in literature, art, and media throughout
history.
Discuss how gender identity has been used to oppress certain groups, such as women and
LGBTQ+ people.
Class 3: Gender Identity and ID Documents
Understand the issues surrounding gender identity and ID documents.
Discuss the importance of ID documents, such as passports, driver's licenses, and birth
certificates.
Discuss how ID documents require individuals to identify as male or female and how this can be
problematic for people who do not identify as either.
Show examples of how ID documents have been used to discriminate against transgender and
non-binary individuals.
Discuss the different solutions proposed for addressing these issues, such as introducing a third
gender option or eliminating gender markers altogether.
Class 4: Ethics and Gender Identity
