Journal #7 Define textiles and their uses, natural vs manufactured fibers. Textiles: is any material made of interlacing fibers, including carpeting and geotextiles Their uses: are for clothing and for containers such as bags and baskets. In the household, textiles are used in carpeting, upholstered furnishings, window shades, towels, coverings for tables, beds, and other flat surfaces, and in art. Natural vs manufactured fibers: While manufactured fibers are manmade using materials like glass, metal, and plastic, natural fibers are processed and prepared for market without the use of any environmentally destructive synthetic filler fibers. Choosing natural makes a difference when it comes to a product's end-of-life.
