SNHU 107 Module Six Activity Template Complete all parts of this template by replacing the bracketed text with your responses and submit for grading and feedback. All personal mission statements, short-term goals, and feedback are examples. 1.Revise the personal mission statement based on instructor feedback. •Sample personal mission statement: o"My mission statement is to, without a doubt, do great in every class I take so I can get my bachelor's degree. I want to work in business because it is rewarding. I hope to provide for my family and make the community better." •Sample instructor feedback: o"You are off to a good start with your mission statement, but please remember that it needs to be focused on what specifically you are working toward and why it is a passion for you. For example, it is important that your first sentence clearly defines what your major is and your proposed graduation date. Knowing this information gives you a strong understanding of the length of time the goal will take to complete. Your second sentence should focus directly on the career field you want to work in and why. Please be a bit more specific when you say "business." What specifically do you want to do in business and why? Finally, for your third sentence, make sure you focus specifically on how obtaining this degree and working within your desired career field will help provide for your family and make your community better. Please rework your mission statement to include these details." My academic mission is to successfully complete my Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and Media Arts w/conc in Web Design in the next year or so. My goal is to become a certified professional customized graphic web designer while continuing to reach my master's degree to eventually creating my very own software with a new technology to mix digital designing and customizing tattoos together to where the tattoos will be done all by computer controlling. By working on so many different people that's more advanced with technology I hope to learn lessen about creating softwars and how to have certain electronics follow through with the proper software and proper tools. My main goal is to have this software be the first and only customized digital graphic tattoo machine that never makes a mistake on tattooing people and to stop al the infections and illnesses people are getting from humanize tattoos. 2.Revise the first short-term goal based on instructor feedback. •Sample goal: o"I want to get straight "A's."
•Sample instructor feedback: o"This is a good start, but please remember the SMART goal-setting process (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound). Writing your goals following these guidelines will ensure that you provide enough specific details so that you know exactly what it takes, every day, to accomplish them. Please make sure that you write your goals following this format." My goal is to submit all my assignments on time or early for both of my classes for the duration of my first two terms in college. I will do this by sitting down and writing out a master, weekly and daily schedule so that I can record all my assignments, deadlines, and due dates. I will reference these schedules and I will cross off each task as I complete it. I will know that I have succeeded in achieving this goal by successfully turning in all my class assignments by their due dates. This relates to my mission statement because for me to graduate with my Bachelor's Degree, I must successfully complete each of my classes . 3.Revise the second short-term goal based on instructor feedback. •Sample goal: o"My second short term goal is to ask for help with schoolwork when I'm struggling." •Sample instructor feedback: o"This is another good start with a short-term goal, but again, please make sure you follow the SMART goal-setting process. Remember to explain the overall purpose of this and why it is important for you to accomplish this as you work toward your mission statement. For example, are you saying you want to ask for help when times get tough? What kind of help would you get? How would you know that you needed help? It is important for you to detail the understanding of asking for help and why it is important to your success." My goal for the duration of my first two terms is to study for a minimum of 3 hours per day during the week and a minimum of 5 hours per day during the weekends. This would come to a total weekly amount of at least 25 hours of study time. I will do this by setting aside consistently scheduled study time and will do my best to prevent and limit distractions as much as I can during my allotted time periods. If for some reason I am unable to complete my scheduled study time for the day, I will sit down and rework my weekly schedule to make sure that I fit in time to study. I will know that I have succeeded in achieving this goal by successfully completing my weekly study goal of 25 hours or more. This relates to my mission statement because to pass my classes, I need to fully understand and retain the educational information being taught, and I will only be able to do that if I am giving each class my dedicated time and attention. 4.Revise the third short-term goal based on instructor feedback: •Sample goal: o"I would like to use Academic Support to help me improve my writing skills." •Sample instructor feedback: o"I'm glad that you want to use Academic Support to help you specifically improve your writing skills. Knowing this now can help you focus on the right resources at the right time. Please make sure you follow the SMART goal-setting process, specifically regarding
how you will know when you are successful in improving your writing skills and when you hope to have this goal accomplished." My goal for my first two terms is to make sure that I dedicate at least 20 minutes each day to each of my family members to give them my undivided attention. I will do this by looking at our daily schedules and seeing where I can make the time to give each of them my focus and attention. For my partner that might look like coffee together before we leave for work in the morning, and for my kids it might look like spending time playing a game with them in the evenings before I sit down to begin my homework. I will know that I have succeeded in achieving this goal by successfully spending at least 20 minutes each day with each of my family members during the first two terms that I am in college. This relates to my mission statement because my family acts as both a reason for me going back to college and my social support, by making sure to nurture and tend to my relationships with them, I am creating a more balanced and harmonious atmosphere at home for me to focus on my studies. 5.Identify some benefits of embracing and incorporating feedback in your writing. There are many benefits to embracing and incorporating feedback into my writing. I have found that one of the main benefits that I have experiences is a clarity in my thought process that forces me to become very detailed in both my goal setting, as well as the vocabulary that I am using to define said goals. Another benefit that I have noted is that I am able to listen to constructive feedback and find a more efficient way to communicate what I am trying to say. Other benefits might be in seeing an opposing viewpoint and learning to reorder an educational perspective based upon facts and ideas one had not yet considered. Overall, I find that feedback, especially in my education, is so important as it gives me a platform for judging my own personal work and seeing in which areas I can improve. I look forward every Week not necessarily to the grade that I receive, but the written and oral feedback that is provided to show me how I can grow and in what areas I am accomplished.
