Week 5: Faith Integration Discussion Prompt Marketing strategy involves a careful assessment of a company's environments and then development of plans that can achieve, clear and measurable targets. We may find examples of strategies in both the Old and New Testament. Please describe one example of a strategy described in the Old Testament and one in the New Testament and then identify if there are any differences in the way these strategies are described (in terms of goals and approaches). Marketing strategy involves a careful assessment of a company's environments and then development of plans that can achieve, clear and measurable targets. We may find examples of strategies in both the Old and New Testament. Please describe one example of a strategy described in the Old Testament and one in the New Testament and then identify if there are any differences in the way these strategies are described (in terms of goals and approaches). One example the bible gives that we can use in marketing is the book of Joshua. The Book of War says that it is difficult to conquer new territory using a new location. As we speed through the search results, we should not expect all our rivals to give way to us. An effective online marketing strategy may take years to yield a return on investment (ROI), but we should experience numerous victories along the way. In my opinion, there are 5 guiding principles from the bible we can use to make marketing decisions. Jesus said that if we truly loved God and others, we would follow the entire law. Jesus clarified what it means to love other people for us. The Golden Rule is its name: following the example, you set for yourself and treating others with respect (Matthew 7:12). Christians ought to make it a priority to do their utmost to cheerfully welcome customers and act as if they are our guests. To help us put this principle into practice, we can ask ourselves the following questions. Do I remember that the other person in this interaction is a person God created and loves? If I were the customer in this situation, how would I feel? Is this interaction going to have a positive effect on the other person? Truth: We learn from the Bible that God never lies. Since God is a God of truth, it would be against His character to be dishonest. He communicates everything He knows to be true about everything He knows to be true. While it is possible to misinterpret God, no one can claim that God deliberately deceives them. Satan, on the other
hand, is referred to in the Bible as a deceiver because he started the deception. About our marketing and sales, we can ask ourselves; Is this unfair or misleading in any way? How might I be overstating or exaggerating my case? If the customer knew what I know, what would they say? Marketing and Humility. Are they mutually exclusive? Is it possible to promote your company without boasting? These are significant inquiries that call for thoughtful reflection and self-examination. Considering the goal of marketing and sales: to assist individuals in finding real solutions to their issues. to inform potential clients so that they can decide whether it is in their own best interest to establish appropriate customer expectations. Take note of what's missing. The purpose of marketing is not to promote our superiority. Our work should not be praised in marketing. The goal of marketing is not to disparage competitors. How would you respond to these inquiries? Is there a way that my advertising shows pride? Am I relying on exaggerated claims or a pompous presentation? Who— my company or my client—is at the center of my marketing message? We want people to buy our products. In addition, we do not anticipate an unbeliever to exhibit godly attitudes like our joy and contentment in serving God. But what if our advertising causes them to be unsatisfied and envious? How would God react to this? Are my customers spending more than they can afford because of my marketing? Does my business encourage greed or dissatisfaction? Serving one another and taking care of one another's needs are God's plans for humanity. Marketing becomes all about us and how much money we can make when we approach business from the perspective of the world. The well-being of others should be promoted by our goods and services so that they can live happily. Avoid products that encourage harmful addictions. Instead, we want every interaction with a customer to add value to their life. Because so much of the marketing we encounter as consumers appear unethical or, at the very least, incompatible with our Anabaptist heritage and Biblical values, marketing is frequently regarded as a necessary evil. While we don't have all the answers, I do believe that if we apply these biblical principles with care, we can grow our businesses in a way that pleases God and benefits those around us. References The Holy Bible: New King James Version. (1982). Thomas Nelson. Hi Renan,
The book of Joshua is a great example on a verse that gives guidance on implementing a marketing strategy that achieves a firm's goals and targets. The key point as you mentioned is that we are taught to not expect any of our rivals to give way to us. I also like that you included a financial component to this topic because having a yield on investment is a top goal for all firms if they plan to remain operatable. My response to this assignment was similar with your idea of the concept of marketing and humility where it is important to promote your firm without boasting. The overall goal of marketing includes achieving a set of measurable financial goals, where the resources and developments put into place to execute a strategy are dependent on the firm's financial performance once the strategy has hit the market. God's plans for humanity include more than the financial health of the company, but ensures we align our interests and intent with a pure heart. By promoting the well-being of us, we make sure our actions derive from selfless intent so our strategy can provide value to consumers lives.
