Chapter S Organizational purpose Mission statement The purpose of Lyft is to "bring communities together and link individuals via transportation." The firm exposes in this statement the influence it hopes to have on the clients it serves, which includes the greater communities in which 1t works. Reunite people- Through its internet app, Lyft's primary business is facilitating transportation. At this stage, though, the business demonstrates that it does more than just connect passengers to rides or drivers to passengers; it also offers the greatest atmosphere for the two parties to engage in a positive and life-improving manner. Enhancing localities- As seen by the way Lyft conducts business, the company's operations are centred on its employees. In an effort to fulfil this portion of its mission statement, Lyft has started a number of projects that are intended to improve transportation in various U.S. and Canadian cities. Vision statement "Ride by ride, we're transforming the way our world works," reads Lyft's mission statement (Peikrishvili, 2021). In this reality, cities revert to feeling compact. where technology and transportation bring people together rather than drive them apart. We think that the community will shape the future, and it starts with you. The declarations highlight the company's goals, particularly those related to building an accessible transportation system.

Utilizing technology to drive the future- Through its app, Lyft takes use of technology improvements to unite people. With its faster and more inexpensive alternatives to using a personal car and its flexible earning possibilities for drivers, Lyft 1s revolutionising how people interact with their communities while also saving them time and money. e supporting communities with low incomes e Flexibility is a top priority: e Purchasing drivers e Putting safety first e Through LyftUp, communities are supported History and strategy Zimride, a start-up started by Logan Green and John Zimmer, provided long-distance ridesharing, mostly for students travelling between various university campuses across the USA. College students were given consideration when developing Zimride. It was designed to make it simple to access the campus carpooling. Additionally, they offered students a productive opportunity to make money through Zimride. The Lyft founders got to know one another on Facebook after meeting through a mutual friend. To see his sweetheart, Logan Green used to fly to Los Angeles. Green used to arrange for people to share transportation to get around. But the main factor in their journey was primarily his fear about unidentified drivers and passengers. They created and released the Lyft application in 2012 with the idea in mind. Lyft began collecting enough money for its development not long after its initial introduction. Additionally, Lyft has shown to be a strong rival to the previously established ride-hailing business Uber. The largest long-distance ridesharing provider in the USA by 2012 was Zimride.
