The main purpose of Part 1 was to give you formative feedback. Mean: 67% Unfortunately, a few of you had issues with lateness. Please ensure you submit Part 2 on time!
6/04/2019 3 The University of Sydney Page 5 External analysis: Several of you were unclear about 'substitutes'. Other brands of beer are competitors (rivals) rather than substitutes. Some of you completely ignored competitors (rivalry). It is hard to conduct a strategic analysis without any mention of what a firm is up against Porter's 5-forces analysis was often missing a conclusion on the attractiveness and profitability of the industry A few comments on your case analyses... The University of Sydney Page 6 Internal analysis: Some incorrect use of VRIN/VRIO framework. The idea of this analytical tool is to apply each of the V-R-I-N (or V-R-I-O) criteria to each key resource and capability, to determine which (if any) may be competences. Instead, some of you grouped resources and capabilities into 'valuable', 'rare', etc, which is incorrect Many of you stayed 'descriptive' in responding to this question: use the analytical tools we have learned! A few comments on your case analyses...
