Leadership Styles Does the appraisal of the person you contacted support or confirm the results from the Leadership Styles Questionnaire you completed in this week's What You Need to Know? What might be reasons for discrepancies? Do you agree with the perspectives of the outside appraisal of your leadership style? Is this feedback useful to you? How will you use it? You have completed this activity! Congratulations, you're done. Your Scores: This questionnaire is designed to measure three common styles of leadership: authoritarian, democratic, and laissez-faire. By comparing your scores, you can determine which styles are most dominant and least dominant in your own style of leadership. Based off the questionnaire, I scored Laissez-faire (21 out of 30), Democratic (29 out of 30) and Authoritarian (25 out of 30). My co-workers appraisal of me for sure matched me being a Democratic leader was so right and I also agree. Although I am a leader, I still give people a chance to voice their opinions. I always look for diversity in opinions. As a leader, I believe that everyone should voice their opinion even though what I decide is what will be. By doing so, I may get ideas from workers that will better the organization. By having a democratic leadership style, this leads to higher productivity, better contributions from group members, and increased group morale (Cherry, 2020). Being a strong democratic leader I gain trust and respect from the workers. The workers will want to work harder and be more motivated. They will also be able to aid in solving certain problems. The downfall is that, communication failure can occur with unfinished projects due to workers not having the adequate knowledge necessary. Workers may feel as if their opinions didn't matter and so that can lead to
employee dissatisfaction (Cherry, 2020). Overall, I think this feedback is useful to me as I will use it continuously to gain great results wherever I lead. Reference: Cherry, K (2020).
