1 As the senior Human resource manager asked to help with talent acquisition, it is first important to research the four areas that the company is looking to expand into. Not all places are created equal when it comes to the talent pool. Our textbook points out that big companies are moving their headquarters from the suburbs to larger metropolitan cities because the new younger workforce would rather live and work in bigger cities than suburbs. (Valentine, Meglich, Mathis, & Jackson, 2020). It is also to take a close look at the SWOT analysis of the company and decide how that fits into each one of the 4 areas that the company is looking to move into. What category does this business fall into and how will the area impact the quality of talent available. A technology company might have more success finding adequate talent in areas like the Silicon Valley of California. Whereas a manufacturing company will find a steady stream of qualified individuals in places like Michigan. The SWOT analysis will come in handy when it comes to deciding on compensation packages. What are the financial resources the company is willing to provide for adequate recruitment, training, and retention of qualified individuals. As a senior Human resource manager in 2023 we are equipped with the knowledge and experience to take an analytic approach to the specific business model to make human capital decisions that will work best for the company's overall plans and goals. According to an article, "21st century HR: a competency model for the emerging role of HR Analysts", human resource analysts have specific KSAO, or Knowledge, skills, ability, and other characteristics that allow them to review the data and make strategic recommendations and decisions for the company's overall goals.
2 It is important to remember that although having the right human resources personnel for making analytical and strategic decisions is essential, there are other sources available that the HR professional can utilize to help with the decision making. HR analytic systems are becoming more and more popular for business to use. According to one study, "Bridging the gap: why, how and when HR analytics can impact organizational performance", the impact of using an analytical system in the decision process only enhances the organization's performance. As I pointed out above, location plays a role in the talent pool. Location also plays a role in the diversity of personnel. An example of this would be if the company were to locate into an area within that is known as the 'Bible Belt' of America. The company's values would need to accommodate and align with the workforce of that area. If a company placed some emphasis on how they gave back to their community and personel then the company would be rewarded with dedicated and happy employees. Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV) says "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward."
