U.S. CONSTITUTION ASSIGNMENT WORKSHEET INDEPENDENT STUDY ASSIGNMENT 1 Article I: LEGISLATIVE BRANCH ENUMERATED POWER REAL-LIFE EXAMPLE Section 8(1) The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; I believe this article explains how to allow the state to collect taxes for all government and non-government employees to provide different projects including health, education and physical structure. Locallly, in 2016, the improvement and widening of Highway 25 that connects Hollister City to the neighboring city such as Gilroy, San Jose and Salinas Road. This will benefit the citizen in the next 20 years. Section 8(4) To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States; All foreigner may be subjected to adopt a law of Naturalization depending on their eligibility. For an instance, a J1 teacher could apply for US Citizenship if he/she is eligible through completing the credentials Section 8(5) To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and to fix the Standard of Weights and Measures; The state has the power to coin money to preserve its value over the years to control the money of the United States. Section 8(6) To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States; An illegal activity includes fake reproduction of money. A person who will be subjected to this activity may be punished to be in prison up to 20 years.
Section 8(7) To establish Post Offices and post Roads; Hollister City has designated Post offices in certain places to receive and send letters towards nearby places. For an instance, the teacher needs to send documents to the Commission of Elections, they will just need to drop the packets in post offices. This provides security of documents and convenience to people. Section 8(8) To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries; In my workplace, we participate in different Science and Arts activities showcasing the students talents in that area. The advisers and teachers make sure that they address and recognized the authors and inventors to their works. Section 8(9) To constitute Tribunals inferior to the Supreme Court; United States Court of Appeals is the major example. These courts have the power to appeal whatever decision made from the lower courts. Section 8(10) To define and Punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law Each crime committed should have an equivalent punishment according to the International law.
