ST371: Practice Problem 2
Zinfandel is a popular red wine variety produced almost exclusively in California.
It is rather controversial
among wine connoisseurs because its alcohol content varies quite substantially from one producer to another.
Below we have values of alcohol content from 10 of the 325 producers of Zinfandel.
1. Calculate the sample mean of Zinfandel alcohol content.
2. Calculate the sample variance of Zinfandel alcohol content.
3. Repeat (1) and (2) after having subtracted 11 from each of the alcohol content data points.
4. Hypothesize a proposition similar to the one discussed for the sample variance but for the sample mean.
