Reflective Essay- Pentagon presentation From the presentation, I learned much primarily from Doctor Tom from the office of the secretary department of defense. The headquarters of United States military is the largest government building in the world. One of the most important things I learned was the 2001 Pentagon attack that caused many deaths. The attack happened on a Tuesday morning where American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with jet fuel crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Centre in New York. This attack was associated with the Al- Qaeda terrorist group. During and after the attack, one of the most important things I noted and I believe was professional was how the secretary of defense assured the American people that the Pentagon is working very well and how communication was efficient. Communication is critical during those times to ensure effective evacuation and also to give people hope. There was a loud bang, and a lot of fire followed where a lot of property was destroyed, and some people died. One of the survivors talked about what transpired during the attack and fr sure no one could ever want to be in such a tragedy. He was one of the people who survived, and from the way he explained, they were just lucky to survive. I learned from his experience that tragedies can happen at any time, and we should always remain prepared. The pentagon presentation positively affected me since I realized that during hard times, people should come together just the way the country came together during the 2001 attack. I also learned the importance of a working system such as that of the United States. There was proper coordination to bring things to the norm after the attack and the professional way of dealing with the American Citizens who were afraid during that time. One of the guests noted that it is important to be aware of the surroundings, and I concur with him since tragedies can
happen unexpectedly. Finally, I learned that it is crucial to learn lessons from anything negative that happens. I am sure that the United States learned a lot from the tragedy, and that is why such attacks reduced from the year 2001 when that attack happened..
