External Environment, Power / Weakness, and Decision Models The external environment includes everything that impacts the organization for better or worse from outside the organization's walls. To succeed, a firm must confront, adapt to, take advantage of, and defend itself against what is happening worldwide. Strategic analysts use the information gathered through several decision models to develop a strategy defined in several general categories of activities and groups that managers should examine and understand. This discussion post will examine several processes and decision models that should be explored. Regardless of a business organization's size, nature, and scope, it performs the functions of financing, producing, marketing, and developing its human resource in its operations (Claudiu, Andrei, and Gabriela, 2011). Evaluating the External Environment Gamble and Thompson (2021) argue that a profound analysis of the internal environment of the business organization should focus on evaluating the current of the business organization to determine if it is working as intended. Additionally, it should focus on learning the resources and capabilities of the business organization, they should focus on learning the comparative strengths and weaknesses of the business organization in comparison to its direct rivals in the markets, the leaders and managers will need to determine if the business organization is offering a competitive value proposition, and lastly, they will need to identify the current issues that the business organization is facing that require the attention of the managers. The strategy that the managers and leaders of the business organization will create is likely to fail if it does not reflect a realistic assessment of the internal resources and capabilities of the firm (Chládková, 2012). The managers and leaders of the business organization should do well to refer to the three tests of winning to assist them with the evaluation of the internal environment of the business
organization; they should ensure that the strategy fits the current situation of the company, is working to help the organization to attain a sustainable competitive advantage and is helping the organization to achieve exceptional performance(Gamble & Thompson, 2021). Discussion of a Key Source of Power / Weakness The managers and leaders of the business organization need to remember that the most basic idea of strategy is the application of the strengths against the company's weaknesses. (Rumelt, 2011). A key source of power to the business organization is the ability of its leaders and managers' ability to be consistent with applying the basic principles of strategy creation and implementation. Successful leaders and managers are the ones who build momentum day in and day out around a series of fundamentals specific to their trades. Suppose the managers and leaders of the business organization need help to devise a strategy that reflects its current internal and external situation along with its current capabilities. In that case, the failure of that organization is guaranteed to come to pass because the bad strategy will lead the organization on the wrong path, not able to act appropriately when facing the internal and external forces that affect it and missing the opportunities that would have helped to propel the organization forward. It is crucial that the leaders and managers of the business master the basics of strategy creation. Decision Model The internal environment analysis is about the study of the strength, weaknesses, and current capabilities of the business organization to maximize the benefits that would come from the strengths of the firm while mitigating the risks associated with the weaknesses of the firm, turning, turning them into opportunities that can help the business organization.
