Weekly Response 7 Some of the archaeological evidence that would indicate social stratification is the goods found around burial sites or chambers. The elite class usually had large tombs with a lot of precious goods while the poor class had no tombs or anything. In some of the cultures, the elites used to get mummified after death and they had sarcophagus made with gold and other precious metals. So if I was an archaeologist and I found something like that, it would be a good indication that there was a social stratification in that civilization and culture.
