Definitions: Anatomy: The study of the structure and shape of the body and its parts and their relationships to one another. Physiology: The study of how the body and its parts work or function. Atoms: Tiny building blocks of matter Molecules: Atoms combined making things such as water, sugar, proteins. Cells: The smallest units of all living things. Tissues: Consists of groups of similar cells that have a common function Organ: A structure composed of two or more tissue types that performs a specific function for the body. Organ System: A group of organs that work together to accomplish a common purpose. Organism: Makes up the living human body. The Body's Organ Systems: A.) Integumentary System : Hair, Skin, Fingernails. B.) Skeletal System : Cartilages, Joint, Bones C.) Muscular System : Skeletal Muscles D.) Nervous System : Brain, Sensory Receptor, Spinal Cord, Nerves. E.) Endocrine System : Pineal Gland, Pituitary Gland, Thyroid Gland, Adrenal Gland, Thymus Gland, Pancreas, Ovary, Testis F.)
