Jordan was voted ACC rookie of the Year as a rookie in coach Dean Smith's team-oriented system after
averaging 13.4 points per game on 53.4% shooting (field goal percentage).[47] He hit the game-winning jump
jumper against Georgetown in the 1982 NCAA Championship game, which was led by future NBA rival Patrick
Ewing.[48] Jordan later hailed this shot as a watershed moment in his career.[49][50] During his three seasons
with the Tar Heels, he averaged 17.7 points per game on 54.0% shooting, 5.0 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists
per game.[13]
